Overcoming Inhibitions With Basketball

A thletes with disabilities playing basketball during the Wheelchair Basketball tournament held at the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP) in Savar of Dhaka. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) with its long-standing partner CRP and the Bangladesh Basketball Foundation organised the event on December 1-5. The wheelchair basketball tournament, the first of its kind, coincided with this year’s International Day of Persons with Disabilities on the theme of “The Future is Accessible”. Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury was at the closing ceremony among other dignitaries. During the tournament, six teams, four men’s and two women’s, competed for the trophy. The teams had training at the CRP prior to the tournament. Valerie Taylor the founder of CRP spoke on the occasion.
