Plates of The Piety
Upholding the spirit of Ramadan, places around the city transform into settings for open-for-all iftars. In large congregations, people from all walks of life sit and dine together. Platters of food are shared by groups of people, sitting and eating together as one; no separate plates, no mark of class distinctions. Indeed, in this communal spirit of togetherness, Ramadan is best celebrated. These photos from Baitul Mukkaram National Mosque, the Dharmarajika Buddhist Monastery, TSC and Bashundhara City celebrate the essence of the month of all men under one God. In a show of compassion, unity and generosity, the holy month brings to fore all the values that are needed for this world to become a better place.
