Waste That Causes Waterlogging

Inadequate and clogged drainage is to blame for flooded city streets after downpour. Over the years, wholesale grabbing of the city's canals and rainwater runoff areas and dumping of rubbish have choked the drains. The confluence of three canals at Manda is a case in point. Canals from Rajarbagh, Khilgaon-Bashabo and Jirani Khal merge there and it is completely blocked by trash and illegal occupats. It is not that the three canals are clogged at Manda alone. They face similar challenges on their ways to Manda. The photos of Jirani Khal, Khilgaon-Bashabo, Rajarbagh, Gobindapur and Kutubkhali canals were taken recently.
