2 held with 70,000 yaba pills in Dhaka
Detectives arrested two people along with 70,000 contraband yaba tablets from Khilgaon area in the capital last night.
A special team of the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) challenged a truck in front of Khidma Hospital around 20:05pm.
Searching the truck, the plain-clothes police recovered 70,000 yaba pills and arrested two people -- Md Soibur Rahman and Md Shamim Ali -- in this connection.
The law enforcers also seized the truck.
A case was filed with Khilgaon Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act.
Meanwhile, BSS reports, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in its countrywide drive arrested nine people and recovered 16,650 yaba tablets, 400 bottles of phensidyl, foreign liquor and cash Taka 46,100 from them in last 24 hours.
The detainees include: drug peddlers Mohammad Mostaque Ahmed, 32, Mohammad Masi Alam, 47, and Mohammad Wahid, 40, said a release.
They were held from old part of the capital this afternoon.
