2 kg gold seized at Dhaka airport
In two separate drives, custom officials today detained two persons with around 2 kilogrammes of gold from their possession at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka today.
Acting of a tip-off, the custom officials challenged thirty four-year-old Khorshed Alam soon after he came out from a Malaysian Airlines flight at 12:05pm, reports our correspondent, quoting Moinul Islam, Director General of Customs Intelligence.
Later, Khorshed managed to push 10 gold bars weighing 1.00 kg through his rectum at the airport toilet, the official added.
In another incident, custom officials arrested Nizam Uddin and recovered another kilogramme of gold dust mixed with detergent powder in two packets.
Custom officials challenged Nizam when he came out from another Malaysian Airlines flight at 11:20pm and at one stage recovered the gold from his possession.
The officials said the gold was worth of Tk 1 crore and the arrestees were sent to the police custody.
