3 ‘Neo JMB men’ among 19 held

Police claimed to have arrested 19 people including three fugitive operatives of “Neo JMB”, an ultra radical offshoot of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), from different parts of Dhaka and Laxmipur district last night.
The arrestees, Manir Hossain Suman, Tauhidul Islam Tuhin and Kamal Hossain, are associates of Ayub Bachchu, “Neo JMB” amir, who is on the run, Monirul Islam, chief of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), said at press conference at the DMP media centre today.
Of them, Manir and Tauhidul were arrested from Savar, on the outskirts of the capital, and Kamal was arrested from Laxmipur district during separate drives last night, CTTC chief Monirul said.
The trio along with “Neo JMB” chief Ayub Bachchu and his family escaped before police conducted a raid in Savara on May 27, Monirul, also an additional commissioner of the DMP, added.
The alleged “Neo JMB” men were accused in an explosive case filed with Savar Police Station, police said.
Meanwhile, detectives arrested 16 suspected criminals from Gulshan DSCC market and Paltan in the capital last night, said Abdul Baten, joint commissioner of Detective Branch (DB) of police.
Of the arrestees, three were fake DB members and 11 were members of a dope gang, he said in a separate press briefing.
