5 ‘Hizb ut-Tahrir men’ held in Dhaka
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in a drive arrested five alleged members of banned militant outfit Hizb ut-Tahrir Bangladesh from Dhanmondi and Mirpur areas of Dhaka.
The arrestees are: Miraz alias Abdullah of Patuakhali, Moniruzzaman alias Palash of Madaripur, Maruf Ahmed of Jamalpur Sadar, Mirza Aminur Rahman and Mohiuddin Faruqe of Chittagong.
Based on intelligence information, they were arrested in a 24-hour drive that continued till this afternoon, Rab-4 Commanding Officer (CO) Khandaker Lutful Kabir said at its media centre at Karwan Bazar in Dhaka today.
The alleged militants were arrested on charge spreading anti-government propaganda and distributing subversive leaflets in the capital, Rab-4 CO Kabir said.
During primary interrogation, they have admitted their involvement with the banned militant outfit, the CO said.
