Appeal over GCC polls after full text of order: AG
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam today said a decision to appeal against the stay on Gazipur City Corporation election will come after receiving the full text of the High Court order.
He said this while talking to reporters at his office at Supreme Court premises after the HC stayed the Gazipur City Corporation polls, scheduled to be held on May 15.
The HC also issued a rule asking the Election Commission (EC) and government to explain in four weeks why inclusion of six mouzas of Shimulia Union Parishad of Savar in GCC and the election schedule should not be declared illegal.
Deputy Attorney General Mokhlesur Rahman told the Daily Star that the Gazipur City Corporation election will not be held on May 15 following the High Court order.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission has halted all its preparation in Gazipur after the order.
