Australia knife attacker’s sister ‘attacks’ Dhaka cop
Dhaka Metropolitan Police have arrested the sister of the Australia’s “IS-inspired knife attack” suspect Momena Shoma for allegedly attacking a policeman in Mirpur of Dhaka and for her involvement with banned militant outfit Neo-JMB.
Asmaul Husna alias Shumona was held from her Mirpur residence after she allegedly attacked a policeman with a knife when a police team went there for investigating the terror charges brought against Momena Shoma in Australia, said Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner (media) of DMP.
Following the arrest, Shumona, 22, admitted to her involvement with Neo-JMB in primary interrogation, Masudur said.
A laptop, one knife and two mobile phones were also seized from the house, the official said.
On February 10, Momena Shoma, 24, was charged with stabbing a man in the neck while he slept in Melbourne in what Australian police described as an “Islamic State-inspired” attack.
Police arrested her from the scene after the incident in the city's north on Friday (February 9) afternoon.
