2 hurt in JnU BCL factional clash
Two students were injured in a clash between two rival groups of Jagannath University unit Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) today.
Both the factions – one led by JnU BCL President Torikul Islam and another by its General Secretary Joynal Abedin Rasel - engaged in chase and counter chase around 8:30am, triggering sporadic clashes that continued till 1:00pm, said Mushiur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station.
Two JnU students -- Swapon and Shohan – sustained injuries during the clash, the OC said. They were taken to local hospital, witness said.
The police official however could not say anything about the reasons behind the clash.
Contacted, JnU BCL President Torikul Islam, however, denied of any factional clash of BCL but said he heard that two groups of students had a scuffle.
