JnU halts new enrolment for evening courses
Jagannath University (JnU) today asked all of its departments to halt new enrolment for the evening courses until further order.
A letter was issued in this regard saying that JnU Vice Chancellor Prof Mijanur Rahman took the decision with his executive power today.
As some students have already been admitted in the evening courses, the university has decided to complete the incumbent programmes, VC Mijanur said.
The final decision will be taken at the next academic council meeting, added the VC.
JnU came up with the decision, a day after the University Grants Commission (UGC) said all the public universities should stop conducting evening courses as they harm the image and characteristics of the universities and issued a 13-point directive for the universities.
