Barisal medical interns call off strike

Interns at Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital called off their indefinite strike this morning following an assurance of fulfillment of their demand from the hospital authorities.

They went on strike since the early hours of yesterday, protesting an assault on their colleagues by attendants of a patient for alleged negligence on Tuesday night.

The interns rejoined their work at 9:00am today after getting assurance from the hospital authorities that they will ensure the doctors' security inside the hospital campus, reports our Barisal correspondent.

The authorities also assured the interns of taking action against the attackers, said Mosaddek Hossain, SBMCH intern association convener.
