Couple critically burnt in Agargaon fire
A couple sustained critical burn injuries in a fire believed to have been originated from an “explosion” at their residence in Dhaka’s Agargaon area this afternoon.
Mukhter Hossain, 40, owner of a pharmacy, and his wife Salma Begum, 35, were admitted to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) with 97 per cent and with 95 per cent burns respectively, Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost, told The Daily Star.
The fire broke out after a television set exploded in their flat on ground floor of a four-storey building in Pashchim Agargaon around 4:00pm, Jane Alam Munshi, officer-in-charge of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station, told The Daily Star.
However, Shafin, 6, lone son of the couple, escaped the fire as he was out of the house, he added.
