12 foreigners held for crimes through social media
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) today claimed arrest of 14 people including 12 foreign nationals for committing crimes using different social media platforms.
RAB has also recovered a number of mobile phone sets, laptops, foreign and local currency from them, reports a press release issued by the legal and media wing of the elite force.
These people are associated with international fraud group and cheated people after developing affairs using social media platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, Viber and others.
Following the information, Rab-1 on February 17 conducted raids at different places and detained the active members of the international fraud group.
As part of the drive, Rab-1 carried cracked down at Maskat Plaza in Uttara of Dhaka and detained Mamun Mokarram, 38, and Sultan Mahmud, 26 on March 3.
On the basis of their confessional statement, Rab in another drive through Uttara detained 12 Nigerian, Congo and Cameroon citizens for their linked with the fraud group.
