‘Criminal’ killed in ‘gunfight’ with Rab in Ctg
An alleged criminal was killed in what Rab claims a gunfight in Panchlaish area of Chittagong city early today.
The deceased was identified as Mohimuddin Prokash alias Mohim, 36, son of Abul Kashem, reports our Chittagong correspondent quoting Deputy Director of Rapid Action Battalion-7 Lt Commander Ashikur Rahman.
Acting on a tip-off that a group of criminals gathered near Rail-line area in Panchlaish, a patrol team of Rab went to the spot, the official said.
Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the criminals fired shots at them prompting a “gunfight” in retaliation, Ashikur said.
At one point of the “gun battle”, the gang fled leaving the body of Mohimuddin Prokash alias Mohim on the spot.
Two foreign pistols, an AK-22 rifle and ammunition were recovered from the spot, the Rab official said.
Mohim’s body has been kept in the Chittagong Medical College morgue.
