Daily Star turning 26

The Daily Star has begun the celebration of its 25th founding anniversary with much enthusiasm and promise to continue upholding the standard of journalism.

As part of the celebration, the country's leading English daily organised Daily Star Staff Day at the Daily Star Centre in Dhaka, where every employee was welcomed with goody bags.

The main celebrations will be held in the capital on February 5.

Different organisations congratulated the newspaper by handing flower bouquets to its Editor and Publisher Mahfuz Anam in today's programme.

Meanwhile, rallies were brought out in different parts of the country to mark the founding anniversary.

In Dhaka, the two-hour show was hosted by Elita Karim, editor of The Star Weekend, and Selim SH Chowdhury, general manager of productions and events, where many fellow employees performed and flaunted their talents.

Mahfuz Anam, editor and publisher of the newspaper shared anecdotes of his 25-year-journey, while Rokia Afzal Rahman, the chairperson of Mediaworld Limited, the owning company of The Daily Star, praised the journalists for their dedication and hard work.

The programme also hosted an award giving ceremony where the best journalists and officials of the newspaper received awards for their outstanding performance in their line of work.

Directors Shahnaz Rahman and Shamsur Rahman were also present at the programme.
