Graft case: Lawyers seek acquittal of Khaleda
The lawyers for BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia today sought “honorable acquittal” of the party chief in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
They prayed to the Dhaka Special Court-5 of Judge Md Akhtaruzzaman in Bakshibazar for Khaleda’s acquittal while placing arguments in the case on the fourth consecutive day.
“As there was no entrustment of Khaleda Zia, there is no question of misappropriation of money by her,” Abdur Rezak Khan, a senior counsel for Khaleda, said adding that the state has completely failed to prove the allegations brought against her.
Khandaker Mahbub Hossain, another senior counsel for Khaleda, said the whole intent of the case is to harass Khaleda politically and malign her.
The judge adjourned the argument hearing till 10:00am tomorrow. Khandaker Mahbub Hossain will deliver his rest of the argument on Thursday.
