2 cops suspended after firing on govt officer
Two policemen were suspended today after a government officer was injured in an “accidental firing” near Dhaka’s Gulshan-2 area last night.
Shahedul Khabir Chowdhury, secretary of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Dhaka, was caught in the line of fire after he came out of a hotel.
Abu Bakar Siddique, officer-in-charge of Gulshan Police Station confirmed the incident while talking to The Daily Star and said the official was rushed to United Hospitals immediately.
It was a long range fire from a shotgun, the OC said adding that the nature of the injury was not critical. The constables were suspended over the incident, the OC further said.
Meanwhile, the Gulshan Division police formed a three-member probe body, headed by an assistant commissioner, to investigate the incident.
