Trade licence of 6 coaching centres cancelled
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has cancelled trade licence of six coaching centres’ Farmgate branch for not bringing down unauthorised advertising elements including signboards and posters from different areas in the city.
The coaching centres are: UCC, Uniaid, Icon, Icon Plus, Omeca and Paragon. All the coaching centres are located in the Farmgate area of the capital, a press release of the DNCC said today.
Earlier, these coaching centres were given warning message not to paste posters or ganging signboards and others advertising elements illegally, it said.
Apart from this, under the Writing on Walls and Poster (Control) Act, 2012, a mobile court has carried out a drive in the area to remove the illegal elements, the release signed by ASM Mamun, public relations officer of the DNCC, said.
The DNCC, under the City Corporation (Taxation) Rules 1986, cancelled the trade licenses of the coaching centers as the authorities of the coaching centres did not pay any heed to the warning messages, the release added.
While talking to The Daily Star, Commodore Md Abdur Razzak, chief waste management officer of the DNCC, said authorities of the coaching centres have been carrying out advertisement ‘recklessly’ by pasting posters and hanging banners and signboards at different points.
“We requested them (authorities of the coaching centers) frequently not to do so but they didn’t comply with our official order,” he added.
Responding to a query, he said, “We encourage business but discourage any attempt of destroying environment by pasting such posters and hanging signboards and others advertisement elements chaotically.”
“We’re committed to keep the city clean and we’ll enforce the relevant rules,” the DNCC official said claiming the today’s decision is a collective one.
