Dhaka suicide blast: Youth picked up by Rab dies

A youth, who was picked up by Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) hours after the suicide blast at Ashkona Rab barrack, died Friday evening.

The deceased was identified as Hanif Mridha from Amtoli area in Barguna.

Although he died last evening, the death news came to public today after police sent the body to Dhaka Medical College Morgue for an autopsy.

Mufti Mahmud Khan, Rab’s legal and Media wing director, Rab men picked him up around 4:30pm for his suspicious movement near the barrack and took him to Rab camp. He was later rushed to Kurmitola General Hospital as he felt chest pain in the camp.

The doctors at the hospital declared him dead around 5:45pm, he said.

After conducting the autopsy, Dr Sohel Mahmud, head of forensic medicine department of DMC, told The Daily Star that the body bore no mentionable marks.

“We collected samples of heart, lung and blood for tests. The report will be prepared on receiving the results of the test,” he said.
