‘Propaganda going on over notice on outsiders’ entry into DU campus’
Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Prof Md Akhtaruzzman today alleged that a group of people are spreading propaganda over a notice regarding entry of outsiders into the university campus.
Evil attempts were being taken to incite the students and youths of the country over the notice, he said.
The VC came up with the remarks while speaking as the chief guest of an award giving ceremony at Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium of DU today.
He also warned that DU cannot be a place for the people who believe in militant and extremists’ ideology, are drug addicted, or against the spirit of the Liberation War.
“Many people are present here in this programme including former students and relatives of students. They were not barred at any gate. The university is always open for its former students. Cultural personalities and artists will be always welcomed here,” he said while speaking at the programme.
“But the university administration has to think about the drug addicts, militants or those who disrupt normal students’ life by driving bikes at high speed,” he added.
Prof Akhtaruzzman also said that there have been some bars at the entryways since many days, but it was not to obstruct the people.
A security guard is deployed at the entrances and a room needs to be built for the security check post, he said.
“Some people are claiming that we are turning the university into cantonment by placing check posts. Those who are mentally disturbed are spreading these propagandas to create mass unrest,” the DU VC said, pointing finger to those who criticised the decision.
