Electronics factory gutted in Gazipur fire
An electronics factory was gutted in a fire in Kaliakoir upazila of Gazipur this evening.
Fire service officials said Jamuna Electronics Factory caught fire around 6:30pm.
Around 20,000 refrigerators, 6,000 televisions and valuable electronic equipment were burnt in the devastating fire, Abu Yusuf, store manager at the factory, told our Gazipur correspondent.
Apurba Bol, station officer of Kaliakoir Fire Service and Civil Defence, told The Daily Star that the fire was originated from a short circuit at the television manufacturing section of the factory.
On information, six firefighting units from Gazipur and Kaliakoir rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after two-hour efforts.
