Fakruddin Biryani fined for adulterated food
Much famed for its taste and platter, Fakhruddin Biryani has been fined for using expired and rotten ingredients for making Iftar dishes for sale.
The Bailey Road outlet of Fakhruddin Biryani was found using such ingredients in its Kebab and Halim, Executive Magistrate Sarwoer Alam, who led the mobile court drive, told The Daily Star. “They were fined Tk 5 lakh.”
The team, jointly constituted of Rapid Action Battalion and Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI), fined eight butcheries Tk 1,75,000 for selling beaf at Tk 500 per kilogramme instead of the government-fixed Tk 450.
The traders were also found selling refrigerated meat, the executive magistrate said.
The team also fined Tk 75,000 to HS Bakery in same area for making products in unhealthy environment.
