Cop arrested for ‘raping’ female colleague

A constable was arrested in Dhaka after a case was filed against him on charge of raping his colleague.    

The female constable of Rajarbagh Police Lines of Dhaka filed the case against Constable Ariful Islam with Shahjahanpur Police Station on Saturday night, Rafiqul Islam, a sub-inspector of the police station, told The Daily Star.

After the case was filed, police arrested Ariful, a constable of Public Order Management (POM) in Mirpur police barrack of the capital, the SI said.

The victim has been sent to the One-Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) for medical test, SI Rafiqul Islam added.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), Ariful took the female colleague to a hotel in the city’s Malibag area a month ago promising to marry her and then raped her.
