Miscreants stab youth in Dhaka

Miscreants stabbed a leader of Sechchasebak League, volunteer wing of the ruling Awami League, in Adabar area of Dhaka this afternoon.

The victim was identified as Bablu Mia alias Babul, 45, joint general secretary of the volunteer front, Selimuzzaman, a relative of the victim, told The Daily Star.

A group of miscreant numbering 10 to 15 equipped with sharp weapons attacked Bablu and stabbed him indiscriminately around 3:30pm, the relative said.

The miscreant managed to flee the spot, leaving him critically injured.

There had been a long standing dispute between Bablu and another group over a piece of land in the area, the relative added.  

Later, the victim was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated.

Bablu bore at least seven to eight marks of stab injuries in different parts of his body, Assistant Sub-Inspector Sentu Das at the DMCH camp said.
