Mother charged with Banasree siblings killing

Police today pressed charge against Mahfuza Maleq alias Jasmine in connection with killing of her two minor children in Banasree area of Dhaka.

Inspector Lokman Hakim of Detective Branch, also the investigation officer (IO) of the case, submitted the charge sheet to the Chief Metropolitan Court of Dhaka in the afternoon.

In the charge sheet, the IO named the woman accusing that she had killed her children out of frustration over the future of the children.

So, the charge was brought against her as the killing was primarily proved, said the IO.

Earlier, she gave a confessional statement before a magistrate where she said she was worried about the education and future of her children. That is why she killed the two innocent children.

On March 6, the siblings were found unconscious at their apartment on the fourth floor of a seven-storey building. 

Later, they were taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where the doctors pronounced them death.

Mohammad Amanullah, father of the two children, filed a murder case against his wife with Rampura Police Station on the next day.
