Mother confesses before court over Banasree 2-kid murder
Mother Mahfuza Malek Jasmine today confessed before a Dhaka court of killing both her children in Dhaka’s Banasree area on February 29.
She said to have murdered the two children – a 14-year-old and another six-year-old – over disappointment of their school examination results.

Metropolitan Magistrate Golam Nabi recorded her confessional statement for over three hours. Lokman Hakim, a detective inspector and investigating officer of the case, produced Jasmine at the magistrate’s chamber around 9:30am.
In her statement Jasmine told the magistrate that she became delighted when her daughter got admitted to Viqarunnisa Noon School but since then she kept getting bad results in examinations.
On March 3, Rapid Action Battalion claimed that the two Banasree siblings were killed by their own mother out of “concerns about their future”.
Jasmine was put under remand for twice now – five-day grilling each in custody.

Nusrat Aman Aroni, 14, and her brother Alvi Aman, 6, were found unconscious at their apartment on February 29. They were later declared dead in the evening after being taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
It was initially believed they died of food poisoning. However, autopsy report suggested that the two children were murdered and there were signs of struggle.
Father of the children filed a case against his wife, Mahfuza, in this regard with Rampura Police Station. After about a week, the case has been handed over to the Detective Branch (DB).
