PBI arrests 3 burglars

A team of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) yesterday claimed to have arrested three members of gang of burglars, in front of Monipur School and College in Mirpur on Wednesday night.

The arrestees are gang-leader Md Hazrat Ali alias Roki, 32; Md Shahin, 25 and Md Sagar alias Raju, 27.

A special team of PBI of Dhaka Metro arrested the trio in possession of stolen laptops, smartphones and other electronics while they were selling the goods near the school, said a PBI press release.

The team conducted the drive based on a complaint of one Farid Uddin Ahmed, lodged with Mirpur Model Police Station on October 24.

Farid in his complaint said thieves broke into their house by cutting window grilles, and stole two smartphones, two laptops, a portable hard drive and cash.

The arrestees confessed to law enforcers of carrying out burglary in different areas of the city for a long time, and selling electronics and gold jewellery to shops in upscale areas of the capital, the release added.
