5 held for supplying fake BRTA documents
Detectives claimed to have arrested five members of an organised gang who used to prepare forged all BRTA documents of vehicles and supply those to their clients.
Tipped off, a team of detectives carried out a raid and arrested them from the city’s East Kafrul yesterday, Abdul Baten, additional commissioner of Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), told reporters today.
The official also seized huge quantity of counterfeit route permits, registration and fitness certificates of vehicles and forms of tax token, insurance, registration application and 150 seals of different BRTA officers from their possession, he said.
The arrestees are--Abdul Khalek, 67, Anwarul Haq Shimul, 42, Abdul Jalil, 64, Abdur Rahim, 31, and Motaleb Hossain, 58.
DB officials said they are investigating whether any BRTA officials are involved with the gang.
