Bar Council candidates disqualified from 2017 written tests can sit for next written exams

The candidates, who qualified multiple choice question (MCQ) examination in 2017 but failed the written test for enrollment in Bangladesh Bar Council, can appear in next written examinations.

The applicants, who passed the 2017 MCQ test, need not to sit for the test this year, said a notification issued by Bangladesh Bar Council.

They will be allowed to sit for the next written examinations, the notification said.

The Bar Council, a statutory body regulating the country’s lawyers, took the decision at a meeting held on Thursday (September 12).

Earlier, the contestants who had qualified the MCQ tests but failed in written examinations would have to pass the fresh MCQ test for appearing in the written tests, an official of the council, told The Daily Star today.

According to sources at the council, a total of 34,200 candidates took part in the MCQ test held on July 21, 2017 and 11,846 qualified and appeared in the written tests held on October 14 the same year.

The result of the written tests was published on June 4, 2018. More than 8,000 candidates passed in the tests and their viva voce results was published on December 23 same year.

The upcoming MCQ test for the Bar Council enrolment is scheduled to be held November 22 this year, according to the sources.
