Father killed, son hurt in Dhaka road accident

A man was killed and his son got injured when the duo fell to the ground after he lost control over his motorbike in the rain and a bus hit them simultaneously in Dhaka this afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Imarat Hossain, 49, a private job holder at Siddhirganj, from Siddhirganj area of Naryanganj.

Imarat Hossain and his son Imon, 21, were going to Manikganj by the motorbike and they fell to the ground as Imarat lost control over the motorbike in the sudden rain at Jatrabari Point Gate area around 4:00pm, said Majharul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Jatrabari Police Station.

A Dhaka bound Homna Paribahan coming from Cumilla hit them just after they fell, he said.

They were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared Imarat dead, the OC said adding that his son Imon, who was injured in the accident, was undergoing treatment at DMCH.

The driver of the bus Shahidul has been detained and the bus has been seized by police, he added.
