‘Missing’ govt officer found dead in Dhaka
A government officer turned up dead in Dhaka today after allegedly going missing.
Deceased Mahbub Alam, 48, a sub-registrar at Mirpur land registry office, allegedly went missing in Dhaka last night before being crushed under train wheels this morning.
Nazrul Islam, in-charge of Biman Bandar Railway Police Outpost, told The Daily Star that Ekata Express crushed Mahbub around 9:40am today, leaving him dead on the spot.
Quoting the victim's family, the police official said Mahbub told his driver to drop him near Dhaka airport area around 9:30pm last night.
Since then his phone was switched off. His family spent the night looking for him, the police official said.
Abu Zafar, younger brother of the dead, told The Daily Star that last contact with Alam was around 10:00pm, when the latter said he was going home shortly.
Zafar alleged there were several injury marks on the body and pointed fingers on a murder.
