Teachers and employees of non-MPO educational institutions were continuing a sit-in for the second consecutive day today near the Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka.

They say, they will not return home this time before their demands are met. They want to meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and request for MPO enlistment.

Eight months ago, these teachers withdrew from their demonstration – a 17-day hungers strike – on the basis of assurance from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Now, because their demands have not been met, they are on the streets again under banner of 'Non-MPO Educational Institutions Teachers' and Employees' Federation'.

They say, some 15,000-20,000 teachers and employees have joined in their demonstration halting their educational institutions across the country.

They began sit-in programme yesterday, for an indefinite period of time, after police stopped them on a march to the Prime Minister’s Office with their demands.
