A man died after being hit by a motorcycle in Narayanganj’s Rupganj upazila this morning.

Deceased Anwar Hossain alias Anu Mia, 55, was a small-time businessman. He was crossing the road near his house around 11:00am when he was hit.

Anwar was rushed to a local hospital and later taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he died, Bacchu Mia, in-charge of the DMCH told The Daily Star.

The victim sustained serious head injuries, he said.

Talking to The Daily Star, victim’s son Al-Amin said the underage driver Mehedi, 16, was held by locals, but freed through the influence of his uncle.

Contacted, Md Moniruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Rupganj Police Station, told The Daily Star this evening that he was not aware of the incident.
