N’ganj jute godown fire brought under control
A fire that broke out at three jute warehouses in Narayanganj this morning has been brought under control after three hours.
The fire originated at the warehouses of Kumudini Welfare Trust around 8:00am, reports our Narayanganj correspondent.
On information, four firefighting units from Narayanganj and Habiganj rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control around 11:15am, said Mamunur Rashid, deputy assistant director of Fire Service and Civil Defence in Narayanganj.
“The fire originated at the warehouse No. 12 and later spread to the godown No. 13 and 15,” he said.
No casualty was reported in this connection, the fire service official said.
It might have been caused by electric short-circuit, Riyad Karim, manager of Kumudini Welfare Trust, told The Daily Star.
