Security guard killed in Narayanganj bank fire
A security guard was killed as a fire broke out at a bank in Narayanganj city early today.
Deceased M Selim, 43, was the security guard of United Commercial Bank Limited located in Tanbazar area of the city, reports our Narayanganj correspondent.
Deputy Assistant Director of Narayanganj fire station Mamunur Rashid said the fire broke out inside the bank housed on the 2nd floor of the 10-storey building named ‘Padma City Plaza-1’ during the early hours of today.
On information, nine fire-fighting units from Mandalpara, Hajiganj and Fatullah of Narayanganj and Dhaka rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after three and half hours of frantic effort.
Later, the fire fighter recovered the charred body of Selim from the spot and sent it to Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
A fire man, Aminul Islam, 35, also suffered injuries after he fell off the rooftop of the building while extinguishing the blaze, said DAD Mamunur.
