Nur Hossain petitions HC for scrapping trial process
Nur Hossain, the prime accused in the Narayanganj seven-murder cases, yesterday filed two petitions with the High Court for scrapping trial proceedings against him.
In the petitions, Nur Hossain, who was brought back to the country from India last November, claimed that he was not involved in the incidents of abduction and killing of the seven people, his lawyer SRM Lutfor Rahman Akand told The Daily Star.
Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam and his four associates, and senior lawyer Chandan Sarker and his driver were abducted from a Narayanganj road on April 27, 2014 and their bodies were later found floating in the Shitalakkhya river.
Meanwhile, an HC bench led by Justice M Enayetur Rahim yesterday fixed tomorrow for passing order on a petition of sacked Rab official Lt Col (retd) Tareq Sayed Muhammed seeking scrap of trial proceedings against him in the case filed over the abduction and killings.
Earlier on March 7, a judge of another HC bench felt embarrassed to hear the petition of Tareq Sayed.
