Prime suspect of Comilla minors’ killing held
The prime suspect in a case filed for killing two minor stepbrothers in Comilla was arrested in Dhaka last night.
After his arrested in Malibagh around 10:00pm yesterday, Sofiul Islam alias Chhoton was taken to Comilla, Bangla daily Prothom Alo reports quoting Ali Ashraf Bhuiyan, additional superintendent of police of the district.
Police with the help of detectives made the arrest after they had located his presence by tracking his mobile phone, Bhuiyan said the daily.
After the killing on February 27, police suspected that Mejbaul Haq Moni, 6, and Mehedi Hasan Joy, 8, sons of Abul Kalam of Dakshin Rasulpur area were killed by their stepbrother Sofiul, a fourth year student at World University in the capital.
The victims were kindergarten and class-I students at local Holy Child Ideal School.
In a primary investigation, Sofiul admitted his involvement with the killing, the daily quoted the police official as saying.
Details will be disclosed at a press conference in this regard around 11:00am today, Bhuiyan said.
