Rab man killed in Uttara road crash
A Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) member was killed in a road accident in Dhaka’s Uttara area early today.
Deceased Rab warrant officer Md Habibur Rahman, 41, was posted to the intelligence wing at its headquarters, according to a short message service (SMS) floated by the elite force.
An unknown vehicle hit the Rab officer when he was crossing Jashimuddin intersection at Uttara around 6:00am, said Mufti Mahmud Khan, director of Rab Legal and Media wing.
On duty police men rushed him to Bangladesh Medical in Uttara, said Abu Bakar Mia, officer-in-charge (OC) of Uttara (East) Police Station.
Later, he was shifted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka where doctors declared him dead, the Rab official said.
His body was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for autopsy, he added.
Habibur was on the way to his village home in Kalihati upazila of Tangail.
He joined Bangladesh Army on October 8, 1992 and was post to the elite force on August 11 last year, Rab sources said.
