Rajuk mows down shops in parking garages

Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) has started a drive against buildings that have been using their parking spaces for commercial purposes in Dhaka.

Rajuk began the drive around 2:00pm in Gulshan, Uttara and Dhanmondi areas to clear the parking spaces, said Adiluzzaman, an authorised official of Rajuk.   

“We are conducting the drive to recover the illegal occupancy of the car parking spaces in the areas,” said the official while Rajuk was demolishing such establishments in western Gulshan-1.

There are about 500 such buildings in Gulshan, Banani, Baridhara and Mohakhali areas that have such occupied spaces, he said.

In Dhanmondi, there are 170 such buildings on Mirpur Road, suspected Shafiul Hannan, another authorised official, while demolishing such establishments in Science Laboratory area.
