Woman killed in Shahbagh road crash

A woman was killed and her husband injured after a speeding bus hit their motorcycle from behind in Dhaka’s Shahbagh area early today.

Nurun Nahar, 25, died on the spot while her husband Abdul Halim suffered injuries in the accident, Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (CMCH) police outpost, told The Daily Star.

The incident took place around 3:00am when they were returning home after Eid shopping, the police official said.

Nahar died on the spot as the same bus ran over her as she fell from the motorcycle after being hit, Bachchu Mia said.

The body of the woman was sent to the DMCH morgue while her husband was given first aid, he added.

The couple along with their two children used to live in Solmaid area of Bhatara in the capital, Noor-e-Alam, a cousin of the victim, told The Daily Star.
