5 killed in Cox's Bazar road crashes
At least five people were killed in separate road accidents in Cox's Bazar today.
Of them, three Rohingya refugees were killed in Teknaf and two others killed in Chakaria upazilas, our correspondent reports from the district.
In Teknaf, a pick-up van skidded off the road and fell into a ditch at Noakhalipara around 2:00pm, leaving three Rohingyas dead on the spot and 15 injured, said Md Rabiul Hassan, UNO of Teknaf upazila.
The deceased were identified as Noor Mohammad, 40, Md Idris, 17, and Md Jubayer, 30.
The injured were taken to Teknaf Upazila Health Complex from where some of the critically injured patients have been referred to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital, the UNO said.
In Chakaria, a Cox's Bazar-bound bus collided with an oncoming microbus on Cox's Bazar-Chattogram highway at Medhakossopia around 11:00am, leaving two people dead and eight others injured, our staff correspondent reports quoting police.
The deceased were identified as Roushan Ara, 42, of North Fulchari and Sonak Pal, 27, of Dulahazra union in the upazila.
The injured were rushed to Chakaria Upazila Health Complex and Malumghat Christian Memorial Hospital, said Md Joshimuddin, sub-inspector (SI) of Malumghat Highway Police Outpost.
