Scuffle at Dhaka airport
A chaos erupted at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka today after a security staff of Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh stopped working and protested detention of one their colleagues by armed police on charge of taking bribe from a passenger.
Sources said operation at the airport snapped for around 15 minutes due to the chaos.
Director of the airport Group Captain MK Zakir Hassan, however, claimed that operation was not hampered.
The sources said the incident ensued after an APBn member caught a security staff when he took Tk 100 from a passenger in exchange for filling up the passengers’ arrival card around 11:30am.
The APBn member then tried to take him to their office leading to a scuffle between them.
At one stage, around 50 to 60 Caab security personnel came there and protested for what they claim of slapping their fellow colleague by the APBn member.
The protestors, however, left for work after the director of the airport assured them of investigating into the matter and take punitive measures against the people responsible.
The APBn later released the Caab security staff upon bond as the director of the airport assured to look into the matter, said an official of the APBn.
