Secretary’s car caught again on wrong side

At least 51 vehicles belonging to VIPs and influential people are fined by law enforcers for plying the wrong side of a road in Dhaka.

Police today sued the driver of rural development and co-operatives division secretary Mafruha Sultana for the second consecutive day on Monday for plying on wrong side of a road in Bangla Motor of Dhaka.

The secretary’s car was caught red-handed during a police drive this afternoon while the secretary was inside the vehicle, police said.

The same driver, Babul Mollah, was sued and fined for taking wrong side on Hare Road in the capital yesterday.

A traffic police team led by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Commissioner (traffic) Mosleh Uddin Ahmed and Deputy Commissioner Rifat Shameem conducted the two-hour drive from 5:00pm there to check traffic rule violation on the street.

During the drive, the law enforcers also sued and fined driver of a special superintendent of police of Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Seven motor-bikers were also sued and one of the motorcycles was dumped while others were fined, police sources said.

DMP Additional Commissioner (traffic) Mosleh Uddin Ahmed told The Daily Star that they will continue their drives frequently.
