6 madrasa students injured in transformer blast in Dhaka
Six madrasa students suffered burn injuries in a transformer blast at Bangshal in the old part of Dhaka this morning.
The victims, who are students of Mohammadia Hafezia Madrasa, are undergoing treatment at the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Sub-inspector Bacchu Miah, in-charge of (DMCH) police camp, told The Daily Star.
The transformer exploded around 7:30am when the students were studying on the second floor of the adjacent madrasa building at Alubazar, according to an official of the fire service control room.
The victims, all aged between 7 and 9, suffered five to 10 percent burn injuries, Partha Shankar Pal, resident surgeon at the burn unit, told the daily.
