Star, Crown Cement, Mediacom sign deal for export idea contest

The signing ceremony of an export idea contest “Rise High Bangladesh”, organised by The Daily Star, Crown Cement and Mediacom, was held at the capital's The Daily Star Centre yesterday.

The Daily Star Editor and Publisher Mahfuz Anam, MI Cement Factory (Crown Cement) advisor Maj Gen (retd) Hameed AL Hasan and Mediacom Ltd Operation Director Pradip Nag represented their organisations.  

The primary objective of the initiative is to export new ideas from the country's university students, who can submit their ideas to the newspaper by forming a team of three, said the organisers. 

The winner of the competition will be selected by both the jury and readers' and will win an exciting foreign trip as a reward, they added.

Many Bangladeshi artefacts including Nokshi Katha, clay pottery and rickshaw painting have huge export potentials and market acceptability in the world. This campaign will inspire people to come up with creative ideas for anything great of the country that can be exported and thus bring glory to Bangladesh, they said.

Bangladeshis for their contribution in art and architecture, environment sustainability and their role as global citizens will also be recognised and awarded through this event.
