'Stern actions if anyone creates anarchy on Feb 8'

Stern actions will be taken if anyone tries to create anarchy centring the verdict of Zia Orphanage Trust graft case, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Asaduzzaman Miah said today.

"No one is above law. If anyone tries to break any law and create any anarchic situation destroying government's property, he or she will be punished,” the DMP commissioner said after inspecting Bangla Academy premises.

All the measures will be taken to ensure security on February 8, he said.

On Thursday, the Special Court-5 in Dhaka fixed February 8 to deliver the verdict in the graft case against BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and five other people.

The Amar Ekushey Book Fair is scheduled to begin from February 1 at Bangla Academy and its adjacent Suhrawardy Udyan grounds.
