SC extends stay order of MP Rana's bail
The Supreme Court today extended its earlier order that stayed a High Court order granting bail to Tangail lawmaker Amanur Rahman Khan Rana in freedom fighter Faruk Ahmed’s murder case.
The Appellate Division also asked the court to hear and dispose of the rule, which was issued over granting bail to Amanur, in the next four months.

On April 13, the High Court granted him ad interim bail for six months and issued a rule asking the government why Amanur should not be granted regular bail in this case. Later, the apex court stayed the bail.
Today, the four-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Justice Md Abdul Wahhab Miah, who is performing the functions of the Chief Justice, extended the bail until further order.

The court came up with the order after hearing a government petition seeking extension of its order that stayed the HC’s bail order.
Amanur is now in Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment, his lawyer Advocate Rusho Mustafa told The Daily Star today.
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam appeared for the government.
