Tk 2cr medicines seized at Dhaka airport
Customs officials today seized illegally imported medicines worth Tk 2 crore at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
A team of the Customs seized five cartons containing 26 types of medicines from the courier section of the airport around 4:00pm today.
The medicines were imported to Dhaka in two consignments from Turkey by Turkish Airlines and Etihad Airways flights, said Shahiduzzaman Sarkar, assistant commissioner of customs.
The cartons containing the medicines were labelled as food supplements, the customs official added.
The Customs have seized illegally imported medicines worth around Tk 56 crore in the last four months, the official said.
