'Criminal' killed in ‘gunfight’ with Dhaka Rab

A youth was killed in what law enforcers said gunfight at Rupnagar in Dhaka’s Mirpur early today.

The deceased was identified as Al Amin alias Kala Jony alias Jony Sarker, 32, said Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in a message floated to the media.

Jony died during the gunfight that took place around 2:40am between a patrol team of Rab-4 and some ‘criminals’ in Eastern Housing area, the message read.

One pistol and two bullets were recovered from the spot.

The victim was said to have been an accused of 15 cases including those of murder, rape and robbery. The cases are filed with different police stations in Dhaka.
